Why Downtown Fort Myers Living is Truly Special

There’s something undeniably magical about living in downtown Fort Myers. With its perfect blend of history, walkability, and vibrant energy, this Southwest Florida gem continues to draw residents who crave a mix of convenience and character.

Walkability & Convenience

Downtown Fort Myers is made for walking. Whether you’re strolling along the picturesque waterfront, browsing local boutiques, or enjoying outdoor dining with stunning river views, every step immerses you in the area’s unique charm. No need for long drives when everything—from cozy coffee shops to lively entertainment venues—is right at your doorstep.

Historic McGregor Boulevard

Lined with majestic royal palms, McGregor Boulevard is a breathtaking nod to Fort Myers’ rich history. Originally designed to impress seasonal visitors, the boulevard continues to captivate with its beauty and historic homes, even to life longers like myself. A drive down McGregor feels like stepping into a postcard-perfect slice of Florida’s past.

Exciting Things to Do

From live music at Centennial Park to art walks and local farmers markets, downtown Fort Myers offers something for everyone. Indulge in fresh seafood, sip craft cocktails at rooftop bars, or explore museums celebrating Thomas Edison and Henry Ford’s legacies. Whether day or night, there’s always something happening here.

Hear From a Happy Resident!

When we decided to downsize after our girls were in college we came to the river district. We enjoy walking downtown, exploring the businesses and restaurants. I enjoy walking the bridges and the downtown area too. We (love) the festival of light parade every February, and we love the weather for most of the year.  The 4th is always a favorite with the fireworks literally in our backyard.  We love the fact that downtown offers something special for most holidays and we can walk or take the trolley, no car needed.  Living downtown offers everything you need within two miles from where we live, shopping, dining, animal care, entertainment and so much more.”
